My husband . . . bless his heart!

I asked my husband to purchase some fabric for me while he was away on business in Toledo (this was my first mistake). He went to a Hancock Fabrics where I've been told, by my husband, that they are "re-doing" the store. They were selling some of their fixtures, the price was right, and so he purchased 2 units for my sewing room. Now, my sewing room currently is packed. The pieces of furniture in there now are pieces that I have rescued from dumpsters, curbside trash, I'm sure you get the picture. I have utilized every conceivable space, even the vertical space. In fact, when my ceiling fan gets put in, I may have to remove some of the things from that vertical space, but that's a story for another day. These 2 fixtures are so huge, that we may have to use a saws-all to widen the doorway into the room . . . If you look closely at the picture,
notice how the back tires are almost flat, did you also notice that the truck appears to almost pop a wheelie? My family will be here shortly for the twins birthday party. My question to you is how many men will it take to get these in my sewing room? Film at 11 . . .

back to quilting!

OK, I'm back on task again. I have been working on getting my stash cut up into different sizes of squares and was at a loss as to where I was going to store them until I found this container at JoAnn Fabrics.

Then my daughter came across an insert from a desk drawer that was not being used and I am in the process of filling that container too.

These two containers are the reason I was able to complete so many of the blocks so quickly for Orange Crush as they weren't wrinkled or mixed up with other sizes, I just grabbed them from the stack and sewed and sewed! I am only 35 blocks short of the 150 blocks needed to finish Step 1.

I ALSO finished 20 scrappy 6 inch nine patches for an online swap, 3 rail fence blocks for a signature quilt, and 24 Split Nine patch blocks for another online swap. Oh yea, my sewing machine is smokinnnnnnnnn!

It's done!!!

Well the swingset was completed just in time for Madison's 4th Birthday Party yesterday! Both of my sisters were here with their children, so the girls were in heaven! My niece Hannah braided the older girls hair and even gave Madison a manicure and pedicure!

Day 5

We are still waiting to play on the swingset. Heck, the wing that contains the swings isn't even on yet! At least the slide is useable!

Is it done yet?

Something has got to give - I am getting tired of writing about this swingset. I keep waiting for the fairies to come in the middle of the night and finish it! The girls will be home with me tomorrow, so it will be difficult to keep them away from it! Perhaps they will make more progress tonight so they can play on it tomorrow! One can only hope!

Swingset progress . . .

The Supervisor whose mantra is "are you done yet?"

I'm wondering if we should have hired someone to put this together . . . if you look at the picture in Sunday's post, you will notice that our fort is located on the right, where the manufacturers is on the left, our ladder is on the left, theirs is on the right. Why don't men read the directions? There is even an 800 number to call for help, but that's not going to happen.

It's going to be a swingset . . .

Yesterday we went back to Sam's Club to purchase the wooden swingset for the girls for their birthdays next week (24th + 28th). This is what they've accomplished today . . . the girls may be driving by the time this thing gets done.

Surgery went well

Madison's surgery to have her adenoids removed this morning went well. She went in to surgery at 9 am and the doctor was done with the procedure and out to talk to us at 9:40! Shortly before surgery, they gave her some medication that would make her not remember anything about the procedure. It made her kind of loopy though, the nurse said she was impaired. She was so funny. When she was discharged a little after noon, she skipped out to the van! The one thing that she consistently cried about though was the blood pressure cuff - go figure!

What is that floating in the pool?

Well, for Mother's Day, my husband decided to take my daughter and her family and me away for the weekend to a city that will have to remain nameless as I would like to go there again. We checked-in to a nice hotel with a pool so the grandkids could enjoy themselves. We did a little shopping before checking in for the evening and went out for an awesome meal at Texas Roadhouse (one of my personal favorites besides Olive Garden + Cheesecake Factory). The kids were chomping at the bit to go in the pool, so as soon as we returned to the hotel, that was item number 1 on the agenda. We all got dressed in our bathing suits, but I was lagging behind as I cannot for the life of me remember the last time I shaved my legs. I looked like Sasquatch! I finally went down, but forgot to bring my room key, so I had to wait for someone to open the door. I decided to sit with my bad knees in the hot tub. It was great, felt really good and I was about to doze off when I noticed that when my husband sat one of the twins on the edge of the pool, something brown erupted like Mt. Vesuvius from Haley's pool diaper - - BIO HAZARD!!!!! The only thing that I am thankful for is at that very moment in time, we were the only people in the pool. I quickly jumped out of the hot tub grabbed my towel and wrapped her up in it! The rest of my family is screaming and scrambling to get out of the contaminated water. The kids are all in tears as they are being pulled from the water against their wills. I am traumatized that someone is going to see us, so I dashed up 3 flights of stairs, in a bathing suit, WITHOUT a towel around me, only to get to our room with this stinky baby in my arms, and I realize that I do not have a room key. My husband finally gets to the room and guess what, he doesn't have a freakin key either, so off he goes to the Front Desk to get another key. Got Haley in the tub and disinfected her, but she was still crying. So I decided to fill up the jacuzzi in our room for the girls to "swim" in. They were having a great time until my husband decided that the girls would like to have the jets turned on. OMG - I think that I am still a little deaf, and I cannot figure out if it's from the screams from the girls or from the noise of the motor in that jacuzzi. I don't think that we will ever get any of them in a bathtub again. If you could have seen the terror in their eyes. Sometimes, I could just smack my husband from here to next week . . . So this morning, Madison wants to go downstairs for breakfast. I am a little leary, but figured that no one would know me, because I darted up the stairs. As we got off the elevator, I glanced down towards the pool, and there is a big sign on the door (I couldn't see that far, so I don't know what it said, but I hope that we weren't named). I think that if we ever stay there again, we will have to register with another name . . .

Madison got an early b-day present!

Madison got an early b-day present from Grandma + Grandpa Chaput! She ditched the cup of superman ice cream with jimmies when she saw the bike roll in! It was dark outside, but it didn't matter, she had a new bike that needed to be ridden before she went to bed! Haley and Emma couldn't have been bothered though as they were mowing down their cones!
