Things are quiet here . . .

Things are quiet here for the moment . . . here are Madison and Haley sitting on top of the activity table reading books from my friend Carolyn and her daughter Sherlyn. They have been engrossed in them all evening. Emma (the other twin) is in the kitchen washing dishes and herself . . . had to strip her of all of her soaked clothing, even her "slocks" and I cannot post a picture of her as I am afraid that someone will construe it as kiddie porn :(

This afternoon we all went out grocery shopping, even Grandpa, for last minute Thanksgiving things like a turkey, potatoes, vegetables. Now that we are home, I realize that I forgot my husbands Cool Whip (but I've got my whipping cream!).

Ladies nite out + Ornaments

Last night was ladies night out with Linda, Jean + Amy. It's been almost a year since our last night out, so this was a badly needed retreat (at least for me!). Amy worked on an old stamped cross stitch bedspread, Jean got a lap quilt cut out and almost half of it pieced for her great granddaughter, Linda was just so excited that we were there again that she just socialized and I worked on scrubbies! It was a great night out.
Today I had class #3 for my beginning quilters and they began to sew their blocks into rows! I took pictures, and I hope they are happy as they all did a great job.

I returned home to find my grand babies in the kitchen making salt dough Christmas Ornaments! Emma Rose uses a rolling pin like a pro . . . it was awesome to watch her

We're back + Block 8 of Star BOM

We're back from our trip to visit our son and his wife in DC! It was a quickie trip, but a good one. I only have 2 pictures to post of our trip one of the Lincoln Memorial and the other of the Washington Monument . . . and they're from the road as I was hanging on for dear life as my husband was driving around corners on 2 wheels. I swear, he drives like he is psycho a NASCAR driver when we are down there - I on the other hand prefer to drive like Miss Daisy :)

Now, regarding the 8th block from Judy Laquidara's Star BOM - ta DA! I think my next block needs some of that dark purple in it . . .

It doesn't take much . . .

It doesn't take much to amuse these two! Yes, it's a box! Paul, our UPS man brought a big box of diapers this afternoon and the girls have been playing in the box since we opened it! Oh, and in case you are wondering, Haley dressed herself today - - - in a snowpants. Hope she doesn't know something that I don't know!

We decided to take their Binky's away from them today. Emma seems to be doing alright, but Haley has had a few meltdowns. It's going to be quite ugly around here for the next few days. Kind of makes me happy that I'm going to DC to visit my son and his wife for the weekend . . .

I've reluctantly taken the Pledge . . .

Yes, I've done it now - I have decided after several days of beating myself up to take the Stash Buster's Pledge for 2009. Now it's taken me several days to come to this decision, so I've had some time to really mull it over and I've decided to make charity quilts and pillowcases. My local quilt guild is just getting into this area, so I think it'll be good and then, perhaps I will have some room to move around in my studio! It is getting so cramped in here that I feel like that silver ball in the pinball machine. Now that initial shock has worn off, I am kind of excited to get started! Last night I made a half dozen spool blocks, but they did not go together fast enough for me, so I think I will stick with the bowtie blocks as I think they are so quick and easy!

School/daycare pictures

The girls had their pictures taken at daycare almost a month ago and they arrived today so I have to share them with you!

Madison is the oldest at 4 1/2

The twins: Haley Marie + Emma Rose are 2 1/2

Another block swap + baby Sophia!

I did it again, I signed up for another online block swap. I think it's a sickness, but I couldn't help it, because when the swap was posted, I knew I had the perfect block pattern for it! So what do you think? Isn't it the cutest? And it was so easy to do!
On another note, below are some pictures of 4 week old Sophia. With her being the 4th girl in the family, she has quite the wardrobe!

Bowtie top

I have hosted several bowtie block swaps on one of the yahoo groups that I belong to. Yesterday, one of the participants sent an email showing what she'd done with her blocks . . . I feel like such a slacker! I have been hosting all of these swaps and I don't even have a top put together yet. I just now placed the blocks in stacks and I think I have more than enough for at least 4 queen size tops (that must be why I could not get the lid on the container). Well, I have to go now to get a ladder so I can add the rest of the blocks to the design wall.

4-Patch Stacked Poker Chips

Yea, yea, I know, the name of the pattern is 4-Patch Stacked Posies, but I didn't have any florals that would work, so I used the Vegas poker chips instead. What do you think? Bought this fabric in August when I went to Las Vegas to visit quilt shops! Check out the link above as Mary Lou designs some really, really awesome quilts! What are all of you working on?

Block 7 of Star BOM + a request

Block 7 is done! Judy posted the instructions early this morning. It was really helpful that she added in the instructions the units unfinished measurements as I was able to square the units up before moving on to the next step! Thanks Judy, you are the best! Now, for my request - please make note of the dark star tips in the block above - the black + multicolored cross hatched fabric. I am desperate for a fat quarter or two if anyone out there has one . . . hope to hear from someone soon!
