Almost caught up . . .

With the exception of the ginormous applique center medallion, I am all caught up with the BOM blocks . . . Perhaps as a New Years Resolution, I need to get a hold of my friend Evelyn C and have her help me with the freakin applique. Evelyn teaches Dear Jane blocks and other appliqued projects at a LQS.

One more block done . . .

Just finished another BOM block from the Moda Posh Collection! Still have that darned applique medallion hanging over my head though . . .

Another block done . . .

Had a rough time with this block which entailed a lot of ripping! This program is nearing an end though and I have yet to complete the center block (it's a large medallion of applique) and if you know me even slightly, you know that I do not like applique . . .

I'm at the machine today . . .

I'm at the machine today & it feels good! I am so behind on my BOM's - my goal is to get caught up by the end of the year . . . in my dreams at least! Anyway, above is Block No 10 from Judy Laquidara's Star BOM. We get a reprieve from a block or two for the month of January, but the next block instructions will be posted February 1st. Below is a picture of all of the blocks I've done so far.

What a Christmas already . . .

Christmas came early at our house yesterday when Olivia (my oldest daughter who lives in Hawaii) announced she was pregnant! I had to wait until today so as not to spill the beans before they had the chance to tell Nick's parents! We are so excited - I have got to find one of those gestation things to place in the sidebar of my blog! I see a trip to Hawaii in the near future . . .

The Tutto Bag . . .

My daughter and son-in-law in Hawaii got me a Tutto Bag for Christmas for my machine! Now I will have to find a Quilting Retreat to go to so I can use the bag! I have been wanting one of these ever since I saw one in 2005 - really good things do come to those who wait!

Santa came tonight!

Yes, Santa, aka my son, paid us a visit tonight! The girls were a little apprehensive at first as you can tell from the pictures. It was priceless!

Lights are on!

Have several strands of lights that don't work. Of course someone, who will remain nameless, strung them on the tree before he tested them . . .

The tree is up . . .

Yesterday while I was at my Quilt Guild Christmas Party, my family went out in the woods and sawed down a tree! Today, the girls decorated it - they are still redecorating - this may go on until the tree is taken down! In the picture below, Haley is admiring one of the ornaments that Madison and I purchased in Hawaii last year. Can you guess what it is? It's a MERMAID!

Finished another block

I finished another BOM late last night early this morning, just in the nick of time for the class! It's been cut out for about a week, but I made a mistake cutting and couldn't do anything until I got more fabric!

Tomorrow is our Christmas Party at the local guild! We are having a white elephant exchange. I have a lot of stuff and haven't decided what to bring. I spent the entire day yesterday cleaning and straightening my quilt room because I misplaced my One Block Wonder book and I need it for a class . . . the room is clean, but the book is still missing!

It's been a peaceful day, but not for long . . .

Sophia and I had a quiet and uneventful day today! The girls will be home soon from daycare though.

Today I installed my latest purchase and it's a doozie - it's the Bendable Bright Light! You cannot believe what a difference this little light makes. You can aim it wherever you like and it can be purchased at your local quilt shop or from the link above. It's a bit pricey, but I think it's worth every cent. Previously I used an Ott Light that I could aim where I needed light, but the shade always obstructed my field of vision. I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you are a night owl quilter like me!

I'm busy consuming massive quantities of Pepsi . . .

Maternity Leave is over and my daughter returned to work today. I was only supposed to have Sophia today, but there was some kind of snafu with daycare and Madison, Haley and Emma are here too. So let's see, they were finger painting on the table at lunch with their yogurt (Haley actually was using it as a hand cream). When I returned from the kitchen with a couple of wash cloths, I also found dollops of yogurt on the area rug - oh joy! I've only got a minute to post as the twins are down for a nap and Sophia just had her first bottle (my daughter is nursing her) - that was another experience in itself. So now you know why I am consuming massive quantities of Pepsi today. Is it bedtime yet?

We've been busy!

We've been quite busy since preparing for my daughter Olivia and her husband Nick's arrival from Hawaii for Christmas on the the 17th! They are going to be so cold when they get here . . .

The girls have been busy rolling out, cutting, baking and decorating Christmas cut-out cookies. Of course, there are only 3 left now (that's 3 cookies, not 3 dozen). The kitchen will never be the same.

Madison was busy this morning and decided that Grandma needed a manicure. I think that there is more polish on my fingers than my nails! If you click on the image, you can really see the quality of her work - and what about that color, isn't it horrid gorgeous?

Block 9 of Star BOM done!

Well, here it is, Block 9 of Judy Laquidara's Star BOM is done and I introduced a new fabric (the center swirly fabric) that I found buried deep in my stash! The blocks are getting easier or I am just used to these techniques, because this one went together without one rip! Can't wait to view everyones blocks!

I want one of these for Christmas!

Anyone know where I could find one of these? I want one real bad . . .
