Stash Report - Week 13

Another Stash Report gone bad, but I am really excited with my purchases, especially my Olivia the Pig Kit! As I said in an earlier post, I went to the Sewing & Quilting Expo at the I-X Center in Cleveland on Thursday, now did you think I'd go there and come back without any fabric . . . NOT! I was busy earlier in the week and quilted my Stash Project Quilt (so I got to add the backing fabric), got caught up on the LQS BOM to the tune of 6 blocks, and finished up 15 Alphabet blocks for an online swap! I am chomping at the bit to get started on that new kit, but there are some other projects that need my attention first!

Fabric added this week: 6.5 yards
Fabric added Year to Date: 32.5 yards

Fabric used this week: 6.25 yards
Fabric used Year to Date: 52.5 yards

Net Used to Date: 20 yards

Quiltathon Progress

Backed the Stash Project Quilt and it's on the frame and finished up the last 3 blocks in the LQS BOM! Hope to accomplish much more tomorrow!

Potty Training . . .

It's been a shitty rough morning . . . One of the girls, who will remain nameless, took off her diaper and didn't quite make it to the toilet in time. Isn't potty training a joy?
As you can see by the picture, poor Sophia fell asleep in the saucer watching her sisters shenanigans!

Plugging away over here . . .

I've been working on finishing up some loose ends . . .

  1. I finally finished the 28 Letter "P" blocks for an online alphabet block swap

  2. Finished both January BOM's

  3. Almost finished both February BOM's

  4. Got the March BOM's cut-out . . .

And on another note, I went to the Quilting & Sewing Expo yesterday at the I-X Center in Cleveland. I bought fabric too - another Sunday Stash Report gone bad . . .

One yard of an Olivia fabric that I hadn't seen before

Olivia Quilt Kit. Previously I purchased at Spring Quilt Market what I thought was a quilt kit, as the pattern was included in the bundle, only to find upon closer examination that it wasn't a kit afterall, it was fat quarters of fabrics from the collection. I was so bummed when I discovered this a year or two later :) Can you imagine my surprise when I found this kit yesterday? SCORE!

Stash Report - Week 12

Fabric added this week: 10 yards
Fabric added Year to Date: 26 yds

Fabric used this week: 1yard
Fabric used Year to Date: 46.250 yds

Net Used to Date: 20.250 yards

Oh, I am so ashamed, I went to a Mennonite Quilt Shop that was having an Annual Sale . . . the good news is, I am still on the plus side of Net Used though! Really though, I am proud of myself because I don't think I have ever gone close to a month without purchasing any fabric! The fabric I did purchase is slated for some specific projects. I didn't get any quilting done this week as I had a quilt on the frame that I finally finished. This week I plan on gettin busy . . . the needle will be smokin'

There's been a quilt on the frame . . .

There's been a quilt on the frame for almost 2 weeks now . . . it's my first time with a pantograph and I don't think that I enlarged the pattern enough! The original panto arrived a few weeks ago and it's 4 inches in height. I began to stitch it out at that size, and it is way too small and intricate, so I ripped it all out and went to Staples to have it blown up - well, I went to 6 1/2 inches and I thought it was fine until I was a few rows into the quilt! It is taking me 1 bobbin and 30 minutes to stitch from left to right. At this rate, I will be done in April! I am on a mission now, as I finished the Stash Project top and I want to load that one so I can get it quilted for Emma's bed!

Stash Report - Week 11

Fabric added this week: 0 yards
Fabric added Year to Date: 16 yds

Fabric used this week: .250 yards
Fabric used Year to Date: 45.250 yds

Net Used to Date: 29.250 yards

Well, it's been another busy week and really didn't get any sewing done except for projects I've already accounted fabric for! I am accounting for a block that I finished last week but forgot to account for though! Next week will be different as there is some fabric I need to purchase to finish a couple of projects.

There is a lamb in our kitchen and it's . . . alive!

Came home from picking up the girls at daycare and my sister Holly was here with a baby one week old lamb for the girls to play with! Of course, the lamb came dressed for the occasion in a gorgeous striped sweater as it's still pretty chilly outside. As you can see, they all had a blast!

Bears w/o paws, only claws

My bears are pawless, but they do have claws! At the last minute I was not happy with my striped paws, so I got rid of them. I was thinking I would quilt a feathered wreath in the center of this block like the one I saw in the current issue of F&P. Pictured are the 2 prototypes - I have decided on the smaller one as the larger one is 16 inches finished and the small one is 12 inches finished

Stash Report - Week 10

Fabric added this week: 0 yards
Fabric added Year to Date: 16 yards

Fabric used this week: 11.125 yards
Fabric used Year to Date: 45 yards

Net Used to Date: 29 yards

WOW - my numbers are getting up there! I was in a LQS this past week AND also in a JoAnn Fabrics and did you notice that there was ZERO yardage added? I only bought a spool of thread that I needed for a machine quilting project!

I worked on two projects this past week, both of them from Judy Laquidara, the Bears in the Farmhouse (which I have tweaked just a little bit) and her Stash Project. For both projects I was tempted to purchase fabric, but forced myself to shop my stash. I am sure that they will turn out just fine. There are some pictures in the previous days posts if you are interested in looking . . .

I know they're in here, I can smell 'em!

Madison was in my sewing room today and found my half eaten box of samoas which I have been rationing . . . well, what could I do - I gave her one. I made her eat it in my sewing room so the twins wouldn't see her and want one too, but they must have sensed it and came in crying for a cookie too. So I gave each of them one, shooed them all out and proceeded to hide the skeletal remains of the box. Cripes, there are only 14 freakin cookies in the box to begin with - what the heck! 20 minutes later, Madison is back looking for another cookie. She noticed that the box wasn't where she found it and is walking around the room chanting "I know they're in here somewhere, I can smell 'em" She's going to be the death of me yet . . .

The Stash Project

Well, as if I have nothing else to do, I decided to join in on Judy Laquidara's Stash Project! But the good news is I started it and I am almost finished with the top! I am at the step now of trying to decide what fabrics from my stash to use as the setting triangles, borders, and binding! This is not the way I am going to lay it out, I was just sticking my blocks on the design wall as I finished them! I am so addicted to Judy's blog, and seeing how my mind has turned to mush lately, I have turned into a Judy Laquidara wanna-be! She is so darned productive and I am so jealous!

Block No. 13 done!

Block No. 13 of Judy Laquidara's BOM is done. This is the last block in the series. I am so excited that I've been able to keep up!

Bears in the Farmhouse

I just finished the 192 half square triangles for Judy Laquidara's Quilt-Along. Actually, I got a little carried away and made well over 200 . . . not to worry though, I'm sure there will be another project I will use them on!

Stash Report - Week 9

Fabric added this week: 0 yards
Fabric added Year to Date: 16 yards

Fabric used this week: 3.5 yards
Fabric used Year to Date: 33.875 yards

Net Used to Date: 17.875 yards

It's been rather quiet this week, but I did manage to get the 192 half square triangles for Judy's Quilt-Along and Block 12 of Judy's Star BOM done! I've just realized that if it weren't for Judy pushing my buttons inspiring me, my numbers would be very, very different! She is like Jiminy Cricket sitting on my shoulder every time I am tempted to purchase fabric for no particular reason and she's also sitting there motivating me late in the week to get something done so I have something positive to show on this report . . . Thanks Judy!
