Trip to Amish Country

I went to several quilt shops in Amish Country on Tuesday with 2 of my friends.  We had a blast and ate well at Mrs. Yoder's Kitchen!  Check out these corn stalks . . . There were buggy's out and about everywhere and the Amish are so friendly, they all waved and acknowledged us!  We had a great time and I can't wait to go again.  I am not sure what the 2X stands for on the back of the buggy below - do you think perhaps it could be their license plate?

Design Wall Monday

I have two things to show on my Design Wall today!  I got all of the blocks done for JudyL's June 2010 Mystery - all 35 of them - and they are even sewn into a top!  All that's left to do now is make a decision on fabric for the borders.  I was so stoked to get all those blocks done, that I unearthed another project from November of last year . . . Wedding Rings by Seams & Dreams.  I finished 3 more blocks on that project which leaves only 8 more blocks and that top will be done too!

I have been so inspired by keeping my sewing room clean, it really is conducive to productivity.  I still am not done with the cleaning/reorganization project though as I still have around 30 baskets to go through yet - actually that's how I came across the Wedding Rings UFO . . .

Oh, and I almost forgot that I finished Clue #1 for JudyL's Mystery!  She will be posting Clue #2 tomorrow.

Stash Report - Weeks 42 + 43

I was on a Guild Quilt Retreat last weekend, so I've combined that report with this weeks.  I worked on some BOM blocks, finished all the blocks for JudyL's June Mystery, prepared the backing for it and started Connect the Dots with JudyL just this past week.  I have been busy!  Keeping my room clean has really seemed to help with my productivity!

Fabric in this week:  0, Zip, Nada!
In YTD:  91.264 yards

Fabric used this week:  12.125 yards
Used YTD:  123.125 yards

Net:  31.861 yards

Design Wall Monday

Well, I have a little more to show on my wall this morning thanks to the Guild Quilt Retreat this past weekend!  This is the June 2010 Mystery from JudyL.  I am really having a blast making this one - it's going to be another one of my favorites!

Another one off the frame!

Just finished binding a quilt for Jean!  This quilt is really bright and cheerful and the fabrics are full of surprises.  There are bumblebees, taxi's, school buses, swirls, dots, animal prints - it's really fun!  And just for kicks, in the lower right corner, there is some birthday fabric as it's the persons birthday she is gifting it to!

Design Wall Monday

Hi!  I have something else on my Design Wall today and it's JudyL's Mystery Quilt from June 2010.  I have had this cut out for months.  I came across it while cleaning/condensing/straightening my quilt room!  I just love working with bright colors - they make me happy!

Stash Report - Week 41

Not too much accomplished this week, but I did manage to use 1 yard by completing a couple BOM blocks and an online swap sent out.  I finally began sewing a top I have had cut out since June, and was excited that I would be able to add that yardage, but I went back to my June records and saw that I'd counted it back then :(    Here's my report:

In this week:  0 yards
YTD:  91.264 yards

Out this week:  1 yard
YTD:  110.5 yards

Net:  19.236 yards

. . . and they brought donuts!

Today we had some excitement here at home.  NBC News out of Rockefeller Plaza in New York sent out Mike Taibbi, NBC News Correspondent, Mario Garcia, NBC Nightly News Producer and a film crew to our house.  They are doing a feature on older children who have moved back home.  They were particularly interested in our family because while the older children moved back home, they brought their family!  Do you know how hard it is to walk around as if they're not here?  Sophia, was captivated with the producer and the boom mike!  While I was in the kitchen - Sophia decided to help herself to some donuts they brought with them rather than eating her bologna sandwich!  I will keep you all posted as to the "air date".

Design Wall Monday

Well, my design wall is the same as last week, but my quilt room is really coming along! I have been labeling all the baskets as I go through and organize them. There are a total of 46 baskets and so far I've gone through the contents of 20 of them . . . it hasn't been too bad of a job as I've been working on one basket at a time so it doesn't trash the room!
Regarding the Bouncing Betty Quilt on the Design Wall with the miss block - my goal this week is to just bite the bullet use something else and just get it done so I can cross it off my list! The next couple of weeks are going to be rather hectic as I still want to plug along on the remaining baskets, I have a BOM class, a Guild Meeting, the Fiestaware Tent Sale and the Guild Retreat! Wish me luck!

Stash Report - Week 40

This week would have been a really, really good week if I hadn't gone to Country Fabrics, a huge Mennonite Quilt Shop in a renovated barn in Shiloh, OH.  Do yourself a favor and check them out at the link above.  I purchased some Kona Black for background, a Moda paisley that I found on the closeout table for $3.89 a yard and a WOW that I hope just might work for the missing block (upper left) on this Bouncing Betty block quilt!

So, without further rambling, here's my report:

In:  8.5 yards
In YTD:  91 yards (vs 150 LY)

Out:  12 yards
Out YTD:  109.5 yards (vs 112 LY)

Net:  18.236 yards (vs negative 35 LY)

So I guess that things are going a lot better than last years (LY) figures!  Check out how everyone else is doing busting their stash at JudyL's Patchwork Times.

Halloween Quilt Done!

Linda's Halloween Quilt is quilted with Glow-in-the-Dark thread and now bound and done, done, done! The panto I used is Dave Hudson's Spider Web border. I must figure out how to get a photo in the dark as the thread really, really glows! It is so cool.
