I am still cleaning/condensing . . .

I have enjoyed my clean quilt room for almost 2 weeks now . . . but now I am fine tuning the cleaning.  I threw things in the baskets in the IKEA Towers to create flat surfaces that weren't piled high with stuff that hadn't been put away and now I am going through the baskets one-by-one cleaning and condensing!  It's going great so far and I have even got some empty and nearly empty baskets - SCORE!

I also have been trying to organize the UFO's and my future projects by placing them in these containers that I've been getting one-by-one from Wal-Mart.  I was reading on Stash Manicure today a post by Terry that she has 8 containers similar to mine and she currently is limiting herself to only working on projects in those 8 containers.  As a project is completed, she can refill the container with another UFO or perhaps a "new" project.  Well I think this is a great idea, and I think I am going to try to adhere to it!

What started this recent cleaning stint is the quilt I have on my design wall is missing a block. I have all but the background fabric to complete it, so I figured by going through everything, maybe, just maybe, I might get lucky and find a few pieces of the missing WOW background fabric!  It's a white-on-white fabric that appears to be ferns. It looks like someone ran over the ferns with a lawnmower and it spit them out on the fabric . . . clear as mud?  Well, I have got to get back to cleaning/condensing!

Design Wall Monday

Once again, it's Design Wall Monday and this time I have some progress to show!  I got the Raspberry Jam top all done, now I have to get it quilted before I can scallop the outer border.  I have never done a scallop or a wave border before, so this will be an adventure!

So now it's time for something else to go on the wall . . . the blocks from a Quilt Guild Retreat from several years ago, I'm thinking perhaps from 2005 or '06.  Of course I am missing a block (see the hole at the top left?).  I just hope that I have some more of that white on white background fabric to make another one, the reds won't matter as much as the background . . .

Stash Report - Week 39

Well, I have been busy this week working on Raspberry Jam!  All I have left to do is put on the last border . . . and then I had an epiphany - - - I am going to scallop the outer edges of the quilt.  I am so excited about this!  I will have pictures hopefully for Design Wall Monday if things go well today . . .

Design Wall Monday Nite!

Well, I got a little tied up with other stuff today, but here is my Raspberry Jam top!  I was able to scrounge up enough scraps to finish the extra blocks to make it a bit larger.  I made the decision to make it larger, but I had already purchased the border fabrics a long, long, time ago, so I hope that I have enough of that . . . time will tell, and we should be able to see the results of that next week Monday!

Stash Report - Week 38

I pulled the fabrics for JudyL's Note to Self Quilt and even began cutting some out, but I am not ready to sew yet as there are a few other more pressing projects waiting in the wings.  I worked really hard cleaning my sewing room and I feel so darned good about it!  It's actually a pleasure to get up in the morning and come down to a clean room!

This Quilt Room is CLEAN!

I was up until almost 3 this morning as I was on a tear to get this room cleaned up.  I have been going crazy as I have so much that needs to get done, but not a cleared off flat surface in sight!  I filled 3 grocery bags with stuff.  It was so nice to come downstairs this morning to this room!  I have two projects that I am working on for my sister that account for several bins on the floor.  The plan is to knock those two projects out this weekend and that will buy me some more real estate in my room!
Even the towel that I use to iron on is in the washer, everything is going to be so clean - I am scaring myself!  I have a lot of paperwork that needs to be filed yet and some quilting magazines that I need to go through, but those details can wait for another day in the near future . . .

A colorful girl

If there is one marker to be found in this house, Sophia is the one who will find it and put it to use coloring herself and anything else within reach.  She did this in the few minutes it took me to prepare a couple bowls of cold cereal this morning!  It's not quite the way I envisioned our day to start . . .

Design Wall Monday

Today on my design wall, I have the last two rows to attach to JudyL's Scraps Ahoy top and then I will have to make a decision about borders!

I have both machines going today, finished a quilt for Carolyn last night on the longarm.  It's a log cabin that's she is donating for a raffle to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer.  I used the Spring Thing panto by Jodi Beamish.

Since I was wired for sound and it was close to midnight, I got the next one in que loaded - a Halloween quilt of Linda's that I've had since Christmas . . . I am going to use a spider web panto with glow in the dark thread!  I am hoping to get that one done today so I can check out the thread tonight when it gets dark!

Stash Report - Weeks 36 + 37

Well, now that Labor Day is done, all my children and their children have returned to their homes. I managed to use a small bit of my stash, a mere 2 yards, but it's better going out than coming in!

In: 0, zip, nada!
YTD: 82.764 yards

Out: 2 yards
YTD: 82.5 yards

Net: -.264 yards

OK, so here is my plan, I will finally climb out of the hole this week, and hopefully in a major way as I have several quilts to put on the longarm.  I will be busting some major yardage for backings!  Have a productive week everyone!

Melon Festival Festivities

This past Labor Day Weekend was the Annual Milan Melon Festival and all my children arrived with their children for the festivities.  We started off the weekend with a surprise Birthday Party for myself and my daughter.  Sorry, but no pictures of that because I just thought we were going out to supper, so I did not bring my camera with me . . . Saturday, the girls and I went to Country Fabrics in Shiloh and as usual, that was a great trip.  The guys stayed home playing the cornhole game and when it got dark, they came inside to play cards.  Sunday, we took the grandkids on rides and there was the parade and we had another all day cookout.  Monday, we went back for some more rides and now you can stick a fork in me as I am done!  My kids all left Monday morning and afternoon, so the house is quiet once again . . . .
